Stripp Invites Residents to Outdoor Recreation Environmental Forum in Weston
WESTON- State Rep. John Stripp (R-Weston) will be moderating a “Parks, Play and Preservation” forum on Thursday, June 11th at 7:00 PM in the Weston Public Library, 56 Norfield Road, in Weston.Rep. John Stripp has invited Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Deputy Commissioner Susan Frechette and Aspetuck Land Trust (ATL) Executive Director David Brant to Weston for this “Parks, Play and Preservation” forum. Deputy Commissioner Frechette will show residents the best way to protect our natural resources and how to improve outdoor recreational opportunities. The two invited guests are:
• Susan Frechette, who before coming Deputy Commissioner, was a veteran Massachusetts environmental official who served nearly two decades in senior level positions managing state parks and natural resources. As Deputy Commissioner she is responsible for management of state parks and forests, wildlife and fisheries management and the Environmental Conservation Police force. She previously served as Acting Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Finance with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. In that position she was responsible for establishing policies and programmatic initiatives for a newly created agency charged with managing the state’s park system.
Frechette had previously held a number of senior positions from 1991 to 2003 with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management, including Deputy Commissioner for Resource Conservation, Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Finance and Chief of Staff. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College, Waterville, Maine.• David Brant has many years of practice in land management. His experience ranges from working on a ranch in Montana to running an organic farm in Vermont, but his more recent experience has been in nonprofit start-ups in youth job training and youth farm projects. As Executive Director of Aspetuck Land Trust (ALT), David manages the preserves and trails of ALT, and create programs to get more families and youth on ALT lands.
